... and it is gently blowing air behind my back. I am slowly getting over my worry that its blades might accidentally break off and fly around the room decapitating people randomly. (Yes, I assembled the fan myself:)

Don't worry, fan blades are not that bad - They will never decapitate you cleanly. They will produce a much nastier, slow, messy and bloody outcome.
