CD Copy Control is a joke
A couple of years ago there was a lot of discussion and fear about the coming copy control of music compact discs. One could no longer rip a copy of one's CD collection onto one's hard disks. Nowadays most of music CD's here carry the copy control logo, and I've found that the fears were unfounded. It's a joke!
I have purchased about a dozen music CD's displaying the copy control logo. None of them have caused any problems for abcde. I have a copy of all of them on my local disc, and I enjoy my music through XMMS.
To me, copy control has been mostly a joke. It has not stopped me from making copies, not even made it harder.
Mind you, I don't share my music illegally. I share an occasional copy with my friends, but that is perfectly legal - at least for now.
