Antti-Juhani Kaijanaho: Total Party Convention Experience
I spent this weekend as a deputy delegate for my local chapter in the Finnish Green Party annual convention. I didn't get to vote (others did, however). However, I got a Total Party Convention Experience - I deliberately sat in all the plenary sessions. I'll definitely be going again next year, if they let me, and as a voting delegate if I can.
This convention was particularly exciting, for it was the first time since late 1990's that the party got to vote on a party leader. There were four very good candidates, including the incumbent. Now, let me explain to you that in the Green party, we favour change of leadership - there is even a regular prohibition against having the same leader too long (though the incumbent did not hit that limit yet).
We got a good leader, though not the one I would have liked. We also got a very good supporting caucus.
Blah. I was going to write more but I'm exhausted. Kaijanaho out.
