Antti-Juhani Kaijanaho: Grep-dctrl 2.6.1 uploaded to experimental: new script sync-available
Just uploaded to experimental a new version of grep-dctrl, 2.6.1. This is the second release in the 2.6 series, which I intend to move to unstable as soon as 2.1.6 enters testing. I have already started implementing a rather radical expansion of the dctrl-tools set in CVS HEAD, slated for experimental as soon as 2.6.x enters unstable.
This release includes a new script, sync-available. It performs the function of "dselect update" without actually requiring dselect; this should make grep-available more useful to everybody.
It is also available atdeb http://people.debian.org/~ajk/dctrl-tools-experimental/ ./ deb-src http://people.debian.org/~ajk/dctrl-tools-experimental/ ./

Re: Grep-dctrl 2.6.1 uploaded to experimental: new script sync-available
<p> Okay, what's wrong with this picture: <pre># sync-available --help Merging available database in /tmp/apt-available.pfIT5G...done. Replacing available packages info, using /tmp/apt-available.pfIT5G. Information about 15801 package(s) was updated.</pre> <p> I don't remember debian policy on */sbin -script names, but I do find it tedious to try and remember names that don't really make sense. In this case my line of thought would be 'Apt, dpkg, syncing.. lets try dpkg-apt-tabtabtab'. <p> :)

Re: Grep-dctrl 2.6.1 uploaded to experimental: new script sync-available
You know, the BTS has been invented :) As to the name... dpkg- and apt- are namespaces which I don't feel like violating. And sync-available does match the pattern of grep-available :)
